Rafting - Osumi, Albania

The canyon of river Osumi is one of the most spectacular natural attractions

of Albania. Going rafting on this unspoiled and unique place is an experience worthwhile. The river varies in flow, depth and width – at some places just

wide enough for a boat to pass. The water runs crystal clear and high

waterfalls gives the canyon the look of a dream-like place.

Day 1 – we leave early in the morning from Sofia to begin our 500km route towards the Osumi Canyon. A trip that will take us through picturesque scenery! On the way you will also see many bunkers. The Albanian leader Enver Hoxha issued in the end of the 60s an order to construct these bunkers and Albania is now covered with more than 700.000 bunkers – as they are

very hard to remove, and nobody has the money to do it, they now stay as silent reminders of the communist regime. Our goal for today is Corovoda where we will stay for the night at a hotel.

Day 2 – after a good night sleep we set off to beginning of The Osumi Canyon from where we will go rafting on a 15km long picturesque route that will take us to the centre of Corovoda where our trip ends - back in the hotel we have time to relax, enjoy the atmosphere of the small town and we will pay a visit

to a cave with a colony of bats. Overnight in hotel.

Day 3 – after breakfast we drive to Berat, a town with a wealth of beautiful buildings of high architectural and historical interest. The old town of Berat

was included on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2008. After having had a look at the city we leave for Sofia, which we will reach Sofia late evening.
